The Nod Ap Treiglo is designed to support Welsh speakers and learners in verifying mutations. The application's focus on mutation triggers is limited to words that directly cause the immediate following word to mutate. Consequently, it does not encompass all mutation rules within the Welsh language. Nevertheless, by utilizing the app's revision feature, users should be able to access a comprehensive overview of mutation rules necessary for correct usage.
When using this tool, please keep the following general principles in mind:
- Proper nouns are generally not mutated – e.g., Dafydd
- Only Welsh place names will undergo mutation – e.g., i Fryste (to Bristol), whereas i Birmingham remains unchanged
- Borrowed nouns from English typically do not mutate – e.g., dwy gêm (two games)
